Public Record North American Futures: Canadian and U.S. Perspectives (Courtesy of University of California Television) Held in Berkeley, California from March 12th to 13th, this conference examined the issues surrounding the North American relationship and its role in a changing world. Moderated by the Right Honourable Joe Clark, former Prime Minister of Canada, this session on March 12th featured a presentation by Janice Gross Stein (Director of the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto) and Steven Weber (Professor of Political Science at UC Berkeley). The discussants were Roberta Jacobson (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Canada, Mexico and NAFTA issues, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, US Department of State) and Paul Heinbecker (Former Canadian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN). In this session, the participants examined and discussed national security influences on the North American relationship.
