Sakharov Prize: fighting for a better world
www.europarl.europa.eu Since 1988 the European Parliament has awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to exceptional individuals or organisations fighting injustice and oppression throughout the globe, from South Africa to Belarus, from Cuba to Bangladesh. 2007 finalists were named on 24 September: Deceased Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya Sudanese lawyer Salih Mahmoud Osman Chinese dissidents Zeng Jinyan and Hu Jia.
