Green Business While the global economic crisis continues to unfold, running parallel to it is the issue of climate change and how businesses play a part in it. For some HK manufacturers/exporters, the response to "green" products from the west has been encouraging. Is this one niche area to explore in the tough year ahead? Director A plan by HKEX to ban directors from trading in shares for 7 months surrounding earnings reports has met with stiff opposition. More than 230 listed companies publicly objected to the proposal. HKEX says it will help curtail insider trading, while the companies say its too long a period of time, and will make Hong Kong less attractive to foreign investment. HKEX did delay implentation from January 1 to April 1st, but the battle continues. Janpicks The stock market had been staging a rally above the 15,000 level for much of December and the first week of this month, before falling by more than 1,000 points in the later part of last week.
