Nationalists cause upset in landmark Kyrgyzstan polls
A pro-Moscow party led by a flamboyant former prime minister proclaimed victory in Kyrgyzstan’s elections Sunday for the first parliament with meaningful powers in ex-Soviet Central Asia. The Ar-Namys party of Felix Kulov was ahead in an exit poll after elections labeled historic by the authorities which saw a robust turnout and so far defied warnings they could be scarred by a resurgence of this year's violence.
