Risk of Irish haircuts
Irish bonds are beginning to resemble Greek ones, but without the IMF/ECB bailout cover. James Mackintosh, investment editor, argues that any plans to impose a loss on bondholders, a so-called haircut, in future bailouts would simply bring forward the need for such a rescue.
