After the Fall – Krakow’s Rebellious Theater Scene
20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Goethe Institute has begun a project, «After the Fall», with playwrights from 15 countries around Europe commissioned to explore their view of the wall in new plays. This week we look at the theater scene in one of those countries: Poland. There, theater is in a state of rebellion. Instead of indulging in language games, a young generation is going for political explosiveness. They are attacking hypocrisy in the country and what they see as nationalism in Poland’s elites. ARTS.21 reports from Krakow.
