It is the poster child for modern Mumbai. An 8-lane gleaming wonder that has cut down travel time from the suburbs to what Mumbaikars refer to as town. From a excruciating 45 minutes to - gone before you know it - 5 minutes flat. The immediate benefits that come to mind are less jams, less fuel consumption, because there is less idling, less pollution, less environmental damage by heat, but many Mumbaikars say there are other impacts, which are not as easily visible to the eye.
