Guru Dakshina was released on 1987 Bengali film starring Tapas Pal, Satabdi Roy, Ranjeet Mullick, Bhabesh Kundu, Kali Banerjee, Shakuntala Barua, Soumitra Banerjee, Nimu Bhowmik, Master Bintu. The Bengali film is directed by Anjan Choudhury. Bappi Lahiri scored the music in the film. The story revolves around, Jayanta (Tapas Pal), who hails from a poor family. He was brought up by his Musician teacher (Kali Banerjee) a village musician and widowed sister in law (Anuradha Roy). Tapas’s brilliant voice earns him accolades and lands him in Kolkata City, where he not only earns fame and fortune but gets romantically involved with Rupa (Satabdi Roy), daughter of a rich but corrupt businessman (Bhabesh Kundu).
