High frequency trade smooths volatility
High frequency trading has been labelled as a potential systemic risk for markets by a senior official at the Bank of England. In an interview recorded before the comments were made public, Professor Alex Frino of the University of Sydney and head of Capital Markets Research, explains to Philip Stafford his findings that HFT adds liquidity in the markets at critical moments.
