Icons of European Design 02 – The Seventies
We continue our series marking 50 years of European design, this time focusing on the 1970s.   In this report we focus firstly on the innovative work of Joe Colombo and secondly on some more familiar design icons made famous by IKEA. Some of Colombo’s creations are TVs that retract into the ceiling, pivoting walls with a built-in mini-bar, and underground “nuclear cities”.
