Dr. Michael M. Behrmann is Coordinator for the Special Education Program as well as Director of the Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities at George Mason University. Behrmann explains the legal mandates for the various categories of special needs students, and gives examples of assistive technology, from "no-tech" through "hi-tech." He also discusses with host Nadjia Varney, the current emphasis on testing, and the inclusion of special needs students in regular classrooms, the issue of adequate training for regular education teachers and the scarcity of special education teachers.
