TEDxBrainport - Lorenzo de Rita — Building the longest water pipe in the world
After having described himself as a schizophrenic — hating advertisement while making a living out of it -- Lorenzo de Rita takes us on a rollercoaster ride that presents a disturbing image of our Western economy. In his original presentation, De Rita elaborates on our remarkable way of dealing with water, one of our most precious natural resources. He makes us realize how we created an entire culture around bottled water, while drinkable tap water is abundantly available. Completely against TEDx-rules, he interrupts his talk for a commercial break...but it’s for a good cause. His initiative, the longest water pipe in the world, has already brought drinkable water to many people in underdeveloped regions. About TEDx. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, ideas worth spreading. The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
