Challenges with outsourcing work to Virtual Assistants and how I overcame them: Letting go of the need to be perfect. This was a fear that held me back from getting the support I needed for so long. But finally, the anxiety of being burdened with too much admin and not being able to move forward on growth initiatives was great enough to where I got over it. The best solution is to move tasks to a VA one by one and do a lot of hand holding and monitoring until you are comfortable that they have the hang of it. Trust and confidence build over time and the transition of additional tasks becomes easier. Create an Operations Manual for your business. I have gotten so used to my VA doing work for me that I forget how to do certain tasks and even forget all that she is doing for me on a daily, weekly, monthly and random basis. So, I had her create an Operations Manual where she writes down everything she does for me and every step that is involved with each task. This way, I have instructions to do what she does in the event I have to. The training of someone new will be much easier since I have a detailed operations manual built for my business. Figuring out the right technology set up, given the database systems, electronic marketing tools that I need to use for my business and since I am not a techie I ended up hiring a tech consultant to come to my home office and work in conjunction with my Virtual Assistant (VA) to figure out how to make it all work. The benefits of having a great VA are obvious – more time to do things I enjoy and to grow my business, less stress from not doing admin stuff I hate.
