The Demographic - This Broken Place
The second official video release from The Demographic, for the longest, quietest song on their EP Verse Chorus Curse, "This Broken Place." This video is a compilation of some great found footage & family home movies - reels of 8mm and Super 8mm film found in basements, bought at flea markets, and discovered in junk shops. The clips included roughly span the years 1940-1969 and were mostly shot in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York (and one roadtrip down South in the '40s). Highlights include the 1940 Macy’s Day Parade, a stage performance by a young and energetic Martha "Polident" Raye, and (possibly?) a brief appearance by an American president. The occasionally water-damaged, sometimes poorly spliced footage was captured and edited by Tom Pappalardo of Standard Design (also the singer of The Dem). Big thanks to Tom Malsbury for lending his 8mm projector to this endeavor. Projected on a piece of white paper and captured on a Canon Vixia HV30, color corrected & messed with in After Effects. 'This Broken Place' is off The Demographic's debut EP Verse Chorus Curse. Listen/buy at
