Transport woes dampen spirits as World Cup opens
Africa’s first football World Cup began with an explosion of colour and emotion in a ceremony in Johannesburg's Soccer City Friday. But the event was blighted not only by the absence of a heartbroken Nelson Mandela, whose great granddaughter was killed in a car crash overnight but also by severe traffic congestion. WC2010.
