Be The One // Entry for Music Video for Moby competition
In the eighties the mix tape was a way to share with someone your favorite music and perhaps communicate a deeper message. Then, with the video camera, we could share more than our love of music; we could share intimate moments, we could dance like no one was watching. With the advent of the internet something changed; our private moments could be shared instantly by millions. We could invite our lover or a perfect stranger into our home and be ourselves - or someone else. Intimate moments could be shared. Now not only do we invite the people we know into our lives; we share our lives with anyone who will watch. Is the next generation trading privacy for fame? Hello Future. I have included parts of Moby’s own footage posted on Vimeo. I thought of the concept of Hello, Future as a piece on internet freedoms. It is almost impossible to police information on the internet, but at what cost to us? All other included footage has been greatly reduced in resolution to keep participants identities private.
