Civil War Historic Site, near Boggy Depot, Atoka
A popular spot for family reunions and picnics, this serene spot was once the temporary capital of the Choctaw Nation, before the Oklahoma Indian Territory even had a name. You could say this is the birthplace of our state’s identity, thanks to Choctaw Principal Chief Allen Wright, who is buried in the historical cemetery on the park grounds.
