Ida Engberg at Fuse, Brussels
Join us in our second interview with Ida Engberg, almost two years since the last one at ADE 2008 (www.djsounds.com/12/31/ade-2008-ida-engberg-sugar-factory-amsterdam). This time she was playing at Fuse in Belgium and once again had a very frank chat about her career. She told us about her best and worst sets to date - one in Miami and one in her home country, Sweden. Ida also chatted about how she likes being close to the crowd and how it’s all about the vibe. She plays music with feeling and spirit and quite a mixture of genres - deep house, tech house, funky techno, some minimal and sometimes some electro. Ida's DJ career started almost accidentally, after her first boyfriend in her teens taught her to mix. Her first time playing out was at the age of 18, at a friend's club, whose resident hadn't turned up. She somehow convinced him to let her play and she loved it. A few weeks later she got asked to start playing in one of the biggest and most famous after-hours clubs in Stockholm called The Spy Bar. This was the beginning of her life as a DJ. Since then she's played alongside a long list of A-list DJs, such as Roger Sanchez, John Dahlbäck, Sebastian Ingrosso, Eric Prydz and Steve Lawler. Ida is currently touring in the US and Europe and has dates set all the way up to New Year's Eve...check out her myspace for the full list.
