Fallout Continues from Israeli Raid on Gaza-bound Convoy
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: June 7, 2010) Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Israel to accept an international investigation into last week’s raid on a Gaza-bound aid convoy. In an exclusive interview, Al Jazeera speaks with the captain of a ship in the flotilla. Israeli navy commandos killed four Palestinian members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the military wing of Fatah, in another incident at sea. Israel is now considering ways to ease the blockade on Gaza, including a proposal by French and British diplomats that would allow EU ships to inspect cargo in route to Gaza. The UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, is looking in to Israel's nuclear capabilities. Former executives of the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India have been found guilty of negligence in the 1984 chemical leak disaster that killed thousands. Taiwan is set to sign a free trade agreement with China, hoping to improve the island's ailing economy.
