Evangelical Church considers gay ministers
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America council is considering a proposal that will allow homosexuals in committed relationships to become ordained. The current policy of the ELCA forbids gay pastors to be ordained if they are not celibate. Under the new policy, homosexuals would not face disciplinary action for breaking celibacy. However, they must prove they are in a faithful and lifelong relationship. Pastor Jeff Lilley said it’s important for homosexuals to be included equally in any community.
