But how can you make sure you are acting eco friendly while enjoying some rays by the ocean? If you're heading out for a day of sun, sand, and waves, try to bring as many reusable items as you can. If you plan on having a picnic, pack it in an old fashioned picnic basket and bring your reusable forks, knives, spoons, plates and cups to reduce environmentally unfriendly disposable items... and to cut back on any debris you might leave in your wake. If you do use disposables, make sure you at least choose utensils made from recycled plastic. And make sure you dispose of any of your trash properly... that includes any waste that your pets leave behind. If you see a walkover at the beach, don't try to take a shortcut... use it. The walkovers are there to protect the beach's dunes, which cut down on erosion, protect the land from storm waves, and provide sanctuary for unique plants and animals. Don't mess with the wildlife at the beach, because it's their home that you're visiting... no matter how much you want to pick up that cute little crab scuttling along the sand.
