A Catalunya hi ha unes 35.000 hectàrees de pins pinyoners. Se’n treuen prop de 23.000 tones de pinyes, que representen gairebé 8 milions d'euros. Una temporada més, però, moltes no seran recollides i acabaran a terra, perquè l'abandó de les pinedes pinyoneres és generalitzat a causa del furtivisme.
