These three girls, momma and her two babies, are rescues from the Oregon Humane Society. Leeloo was brought in after she was found in a dog park in Portland and gave birth to six babies. She weaned the babies at about three weeks, and they are on solid foods at the shelter. The mom, who I named Leeloo, and the only two girls from the litter, Gadget and Gizmo, came home with me on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Leeloo is an excellent mother, keeping a good eye on her babies all the time, and is a wonderful, playful rat who enjoys human interaction. Her two girls, who I refer to collectively as the twins, are also playful and friendly, and are learning to be picked up and held. Note: The scratch on my hand is not from these guys. I volunteer at OHS and that scratch was caused by a big brustly buck who did NOT want me messing with him and picking him up. These girls are super sweet and licky and will probably never hurt anyone. The big girls are in the compartments above this one in the video. They will not be introduced until the babies are bigger, I’m thinking at least two months old.
