NTT rings overseas
NTT, the world's biggest phone company by sales, wants to dial in more business outside Japan. Suffering from shrinking local demand, Japan's top fixed-line operator is looking beyond current Asian telecom stakes to Russia and the Middle East where it can provide services and networks. Six year ago mobile phone unit DoCoMo lost $9 billion in overseas investment, but new chief Satoshi Miura says NTT is not afraid to seize opportunities. Dan Sloan reports.
