Scrums House Speaker Peter Milliken ruled today that the Conservatives breached parliamentary privilege on two issues. Milliken’s first ruling dealt with the government’s refusal to provide requested documents about the costs of its crime bills and corporate tax cuts. The second ruling concerned International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda’s decision to have a funding document altered that denied funding to the aid group KAIROS. Government House leader John Baird, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, NDP Deputy leader Thomas Mulcair, Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe, and NDP House leader Libby Davies reacted to the rulings.Michael Ignatieff, Gilles Duceppe and Liberal MP Denis Coderre commented on Max Pacioretty’s fractured vertebrae and serious concussion. The Montreal Canadiens player received the injuries after he was hit by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara during last night’s game.
