四億年歷史的岩石、六千五百萬年歷史的化石、世上唯一的酸性六方柱狀的火山岩，原來都是香港西貢東部，鮮為人知的寶藏。有人稱這裡為香港最後的淨土，是傳說中的香格里拉。而正正因為這裡獨特珍貴的地貌，政府望可發展為國家級的地質公園，躋身成世界自然遺產，跟美國黃石公園、雲南麗江看齊，成為吸引遊客的新地標。 地質公園的面積，約佔全港百分之四。由萬宜水庫伸延到果洲群島一帶，絕大部分都是人煙罕見的淨土，激起多方面的矛盾。政府極力推動地質公園、生態旅行團紛紛和應，另一方面，本港地質學家及保育人士忙於叫停，指計劃欠長遠保育及規劃。地質公園應該如何發展？兩者如何平衡？
