Epilepsy and Sleep
Epilepsy is the condition of experiencing chronic, unprovoked seizures and can encompass a wide variety of seizures. One area of concern is sleep-related epilepsy, which affects between 10 and 25% of patients. The relationship between sleep and seizure activity is not well understood by physicians, but it appears that certain seizures are more likely to occur during sleep and certain stages of sleep. Diagnosing sleep-related epilepsy is often difficult and is usually detected when a patient feels tired and fatigued during the day and is unsure why. Or when a physician recognizes a pattern
