A Manhattan film crew discovers Susan (Sarah Silverman), a young female stand-up comedian, and follows the promising talent to Los Angeles, where she goes on a series of auditions with the hopes of scoring a role on television. However, this drastic life-changing decision is news to Susan’s boyfriend, Max (Sam Seder), who decides to tag along despite Susan's dismissals. David Cross, Andy Dick and Kathy Griffin also appear in this mockumentary.
