Witnesses testified about the safety of food imports and the Food and Drug Administration’s capabilities to ensure the quality and safety of the U.S. food supply. They spoke about foreign and domestic inspection procedures, industry efforts to ensure the quality of imports, government regulation of inspections, and resources available to food safety officials. They also talked about a recent report on food imports from China and safety standards in the Chinese food supply chain.  Undersecretary Richard Raymond also testified at the hearing.
