Little Fora.tv Challenges CharlieRose.com in Popularity
Here at Beet.TV we are like to chronicle how small media brands, with no legacy, emerge to grab attention. Fora.tv, launched in 2007, is a site which presents videos of thought leaders speaking in public forums. It been gaining some traction over the past three months. According to Compete, Fora bested Charlie Rose online in traffic in December and January and was quite close in February. In the area of thought leadership, the big traffic winner is TED.com, the site that features presentations from the TED conferences. It is having an extraordinary run. Last week in San Francisco, I spoke with Fora CEO Blaise Zerega about the site and why it is getting so much attention. He said the traffic numbers to the Web site is a small indication of the success of the site, he says that most of the views of the video appear off site, via an embeddable player and on YouTube. He also spoke about the site’s redesign which was introduced last month. Also last month, Fora.tv started a syndication arrangement with Wired.com. Fora.tv has been funded by William Randolph Hearst III and Adobe Systems. Blaise was a speaker at the Beet.TV Online Video Roundtable at the Adobe offices. We spoke after the conference concluded. — Andy Plesser, Executive Producer Posted on Mar 10, 2009
