Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National
Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National takes place every August in Tennessee, and is the big final showdown for the future of Motocross. I truly cherish this video I produced last year for Kawasaki. It was a blessing to spontaneously connect with Jim, better known as our “hick by the river”, who you will see is 'The MAN' at breaking it down for you. The weather was insanely hot, with a heat index of 122 degrees one of the days we were out there! What amazes me is the level of talent and dedication that these families demonstrate at this particular race. It is the turning point for the big leagues and all the major manufacturers are there to grab the next Ricky Carmichael. It’s a real battle in racing motocross…with yourself and everyone else on the track. You are constantly yearning for the finish line before you crash into a fellow competitor. I felt goose bumps several times a day shooting this race, swimming in energy that at times is just off the charts. It was great to work with kids who are so free and full of life. In the professional ranks, much of the soul seems to be lost. It becomes a job at that point. But not here, it’s a dream…becoming true…in the moment! This year we are producing a documentary on the Team Green program, which is celebrating it’s 30-Year Anniversary at Loretta Lynn’s this August. Team Green is a support program that aims to develop the best amateur motocross racers by providing unparalleled technical and moral support. Team Green offers tech support to all racers even if they are not on a green bike. They offer so much to the community of motocross and I am honored to be involved and able to share that with you.
