TateShots: Do Ho Suh - Staircase-III
A gauzy red staircase floats high up in a gallery at Tate Modern, the latest installation by artist Do Ho Suh. Watching as the team pinned the fabric in place, he told us about his inspiration.25.03.2011 Staircase-III is one of a number of works Suh has made based on his personal memories of architectural spaces, both of his parents’ traditional Korean house in Seoul and his own Western-style apartment in New York. ‘The space I’m interested in is not only a physical one, but an intangible, metaphorical, and psychological one,’ he has said. Do Ho Suh’s work features in Tate Modern’s Collection Displays, 2011.
