U.S. Energy Policy (May 22, 2008)
Select Committee - U.S. Energy Policy - 205582-1-DVD - Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming. The House Select Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee held an oversight hearing on the administration’s energy policy. Secretary Bodman did not recommend releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which was intended to respond to future supply emergencies and not to influence prices. He also said that he did not believe that rampant market speculation was causing the high oil prices that reached a record 35 a barrel but a matter of supply and demand that could be traced to essentially flat global production over the last three years.
