A haunted meteorologist dreams of storms that are a lot closer and further away than he thought. Programmer’s Note: Following up on her popular films "The Drift" and "Voice on the Line," Sundance Film Festival shorts veteran Kelly Sears returns to Park City with her newest endeavor titled "Jupiter Elicius." The film—about a meteorologist who becomes undone by the storm that haunts him—was made as part of the Orbit(film) project (www.orbitfilm.com), which approaches the science of outer space through creative storytelling and visual poetry. Given only a month to make the film, Sears did some recording and shooting in Los Angeles before returning to Houston, the home of NASA, to complete it. Narrated by Anthony McCann, whom Sears considers "the raddest poet who has been kind enough to do voiceovers for a couple of my films," "Jupiter Elicius" was finished during weeks when the outside world was experiencing rainy and tempestuous—very appropriate—weather. Up next for Sears? A project using candid photos from high-school yearbooks from the 1970s that she describes as "coming together like a Freudian cinema vérité minimalist horror film."
