Mitten durch Esslingen führt der Neckar. Das Kanalsystem zieht jedes Jahr tausende Touristen an. Aber auch Angler und besonders Kanufahrer nutzen die Wasserstraße. Die Letztgenannten streiten sich jetzt, wer die Hoheit im Wasser hat. Die Angler sehen durch ungeführte Kanutouren ihre Fischpopulation gefährdet.
