Many people worried recent elections would reignite earlier tensions
This morning, the streets of Osh in the south of Kyrgyzstan are surprisingly calm. Yet just 4 months ago, as many as 2000 people were killed here in clashes between Kyrgyz and Uzbek ethnic groups. Many people were worried recent elections would reignite those tensions. But so far, the vote has been hailed as a landmark moment of peaceful democracy.
