Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca
Campaign Politics Esquimalt-Juan de FucaThe Vancouver Island riding of Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca is one of several ridings across Canada where there is no incumbent and as a result the race is wide open between the three main contenders. Keith Martin, the former MP first won the riding in 1993, as a Reformer and when Keith crossed the floor to join the Liberals in 2004 he managed to keep the seat albeit with smaller margins. Troy de Souza who ran against Keith Martin the last two elections is hoping the third time is the charm, as is the New Democrat Randall Garrison who ran and lost against Keith in 2006 and 2004 finishing second both times. The Liberals believe that their candidate Lillian Szpak will keep the riding Liberal red and the Green Party’s candidate Shauuna Salsman is also vying for the position.CPAC’s Ed Watson has the story on one of this election’s most closely fought contests.
