The best way yo use your fridge for friends to the environment
Refrigerators can be big energy suckers, but there are some easy ways to make sure they are working at peak efficiency. Make sure your fridge closes tightly and isn’t letting out any cold air that it will then have to compensate for and waste energy in the process. Make sure the gasket is in good condition by closing the door on a piece of paper. If the paper comes out easily when you pull it, you probably need a new gasket. If you have a magnetic gasket, you can check if it is working by pointing a flashlight at various points areas of the gasket, then close the door. If you can see light shining through, sorry... you need a new gasket. And if you have a really old fridge, you might want to think about investing in a new unit. It might sound expensive, but clunker fridges made before 1990 are about half as efficient as new ones. So let go of your old fridge and get yourself a brand new, energy efficient one. It's not a cheap initial investment, but you'll end up saving money on your energy bill. And besides, the environment will appreciate your energy efficient new fridge.
