挙式後初めてとなる海外公務で、アメリカを訪問中のイギリスのウィリアム王子とキャサリン妃は9日、カリフォルニア州で、ポロのチャリティーマッチに参加した。ウィリアム王子は試合前、「負け知らずだからね」と話した。紫のユニホームに背番号4をつけたウィリアム王子。キャサリン妃が応援する中、次々と4ゴールを挙げ、試合前の言葉通り、チームは5 - 3と、接戦を制した。集まった寄付金は、退役軍人や、その家族などのために充てられるという。
