Intel Gains in Pre-Market on "Ultrabook" News
Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC) is up 1% in pre-market trading, with investors focused on its tablet launch. The company is taking part in the Computex exhibition and according to news reports, is offering details of a new tablet-like laptop that it calls the "ultrabook." Intel, the world’s biggest chip maker, said the ultrabook "will marry the performance and capabilities of today's laptops with tablet-like features." INTC is also featuring 10 new tablets based on its Atom chip, and touted an upcoming netbook personal computer platform with more than 10 hours of battery life. Intel said the next netbook platform, dubbed "Cedar Trail" would "enable more than 10 hours of battery life and weeks of standby." The platform would also support major operating systems, including Microsoft's Windows, Google's Android and MeeGo.
