U.S. Withdraws Last Combat Brigade from Iraq
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: August 19, 2010) The U.S. has withdrawn its last combat troop brigade from Iraq, more than seven years after the U.S.-led invasion. However, there are fears that Iraq’s security forces are not yet ready to take over. The UN is holding an emergency session to discuss aid for Pakistan's flood victims. As many as eight million people are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. A nationwide strike in South Africa has reached its second day, as more than a million state workers are calling for an 8.6 percent pay raise. The French government has begun expelling hundreds of Roma, claiming that they have settled in France illegally.
