Salton Sea: Hey Days
The Salton Sea sits tucked away in a hot desert valley in the south east corner of California. It was created in 1905 when an out of control irrigation project re-routed the Colorado River into the desert for 18 months. The area soon bloomed and became a famed resort destination, rivaling nearby Palm Springs. But today, the place is a virtual ghost town, as the Sea suffers from a host of environmental problems due to its very high salt content. In this pod, we'll take a look at the town of the Salton Sea in its hey day, when it was THE hot vacation destination.
