Pothe Poni is love based drama movie were Chaitanya (Siva Balaji) and Shanti (Sindhu) are in constant focus. They are childhood friends and their trait is quarreling constantly over petty issues.A third person named Siddarth (Dhanush), Shanti’s office colleague, also loves her.When the parents ask Shanti to marry Chaitanya, she becomes adamant and says he is just a friend to her and nothing more.A situation is created then for her to stay away from Chaitanya. And this gap makes her feel for the first time that she is missing Chaitanya. She craves for his company and realizing that she cannot live without him, she travels back to her place and makes it known to Chaitanya. He too is a happy man. On his way to the bus stand to receive her, naxals shoot at a car in which a police officer is travelling.
