Movies to Video Games
We’ve figured out that TV shows don't really make a good videogame, but what about movies? On this other end of the spectrum, we're taking a look today at how movies fare when they make their transfer over to videogame format. Let's see how many I name in the next ten seconds: Iron Man, Space Chimps, Transformers, Speed Racer, Indiana Jones, Happy Feet, The Matrix, Harry Potter, Dirty Harry, Shrek, Shark Tale, X-Men, Bee Story, The DaVinci Code, Zathura, Ghost Rider, Lord of the Rings, and Superman. Okay, that might've been a little more than ten seconds, but who cares. For the games I listed, I'd say a decent amount of them have come out to be really great on the video game front. Then again could it just be that a good movie will produces a more fun videogame? Well let's just say it certainly doesn't hurt. A movie's success and budget could also make or break their videogame counterpart. For some videogames like Transformers, they're released prior to the movie release in order to generate hype. Others are either quickly released after the movie or right along with it. Some videogames like the Matrix come with the bonus of extra unseen content not shown in the movie. Altogether, videogame movies often have a much bigger selling point than their partner TV shows that get made into games. Overall, movies contribute a tangible and strong storyline to help these videogames out, so the end result is usually a lot better. We've got just one last topic to cover, and that's video games that get made into movies. But we'll save that for later.
