THE HIDDEN CITY OF JUNEAU
Juneau, Alaska is by far the most remote state capital in the country... the city of 30,000 people is so isolated that no roads can access it through the surrounding mountain passes and water. The only way to get to Juneau is to come in by boat or plane... but it’s worth the trip to the tiny yet beautiful city, which hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer. It's easy to see why people make the effort to get to Alaska's capital... the nearby Mount Juneau and Mount Roberts provide some of the most jaw droppingly beautiful views in the entire state. Climb the 3,819 foot Mount Roberts or take the easy way up by riding the Mount Roberts Tramway for unforgettable views. View the nearby Mendenhall Glacier, the world's most visited glacier, either by cruising tour or on a relaxing float trip, or head out to sea for a fun whale watching trip and see if you can get an eyeful of the elusive sea creatures. Or just relax and explore the small and charming town and learn what life is like in this very isolated capital city. But don't miss out on a trip to Juneau... it's not easy to get there, but it's worth the effort
