2008年五一二汶川大地震令生靈塗炭，家園盡毀，一場動員最廣，投入量最大的重建工程正式展開。 中央明確要求各個省市，以不低於百分一的財力，支援重災縣市三年。通過對口授建協調模式，四川與十八個對口援建省市形成了相互支持，例如江蘇援建綿竹、上海援建都江堰、廣東援建汶川、北京援建什邡等，香港亦合共捐出了一百億港元予四川災區。 在強大的人力物力配合下，四川的基建大體完成，高速道路更被譽為全國最好。然而硬件的配套雖然完成，但災民心靈的重建，又是否能夠在三年內完成？一些喪失子女的父母誕下新生兒，是否代表一切已經重新開始？ 記者: 張慧敏
