I love Catherine Cookson films and this is one of my favourites. I love the sweet shop she works in and it is very romantic but is quite violent too. I think it gives viewers a first hand replica of what life would have been like for young ladies in those times and the hard experiences they had with their parents. It tells the tale of Agnes a girl who falls in love with a sweet shop customer and who eventually marries but with devastating events to follow. It is highly predictable how it ends as we guessed it straight away but is a great film with good actors in.   ... >>
