アメリカ・アリゾナ州最大の都市フェニックスを、巨大な砂嵐がのみ込んだ。砂嵐の幅は80kmにも達し、風速30メートルというハリケーン並みの勢力を保ちながら移動を続けた。この影響で、空港が一時閉鎖されたほか、少なくとも2万戸が停電しているという。視界の悪化に加え、各地に激しい雷雨や洪水注意報も出されていて、気象当局が注意を呼びかけている。
