一度誤以為絕種的灰瘠懶猴去年年底在斯里蘭卡中部一個森林再次被發現。 研究員上一次於1939年見過灰瘠懶猴，直至2002年，有人再看到牠，但並沒有拍下照片。 灰瘠懶猴擁有大眼睛，方便晚上獵食，四肢也較短，主要在山區叢林棲息。
