World Music: Frederico Aubele, "La Esquina"
-Download video on iTunes-Buy the album(Argentina) We credit "Red Light Districts" as the birthplace of many styles of music, from Greek Rebetica, to Jazz to Tango. While this is probably a romantic notion with only a grain of truth, the image of the musician who plays to amuse the inhabitants of a brothel or a bar lives on as the symbol of the observer. Federico Aubele an Argentine guitarist has traveled internationally, and has integrated many influences into his music. But in this video shot in Buenos Aires, he is certainly summoning up his city’s mythos. The music may have a cool modernity, but add the right rhythm section, and you've got one sultry tango.
